ELAC Launches New Discovery Z3 Wireless Zone Speaker

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (Sept. 7, 2017) – ELAC, a leading global provider of high-performance speakers and electronics, today launched its new Discovery Z3 Wireless Zone Speaker that connects to a home Wi-Fi network or Bluetooth to easily add new audio zones throughout the house. The product’s compact design makes it ideal for multi-room use in a kitchen, bedroom, home office, entertainment or recreation room, or patio.

The Discovery Z3 is the newest addition to the Discovery family of products. The Z3 independently supports Discovery, Roon Ready, AirPlay, Bluetooth and Spotify Connect streaming, enabling users to easily listen to and manage their music across the home. Bluetooth connectivity means that users can deploy the Discovery Z3 like a conventional Bluetooth speaker to play music from most smartphones or tablets. When used with the ELAC Discovery Music Server, the Discovery Z3 acts as a Discovery endpoint and allows plug-and-play connectivity to a user’s entire music collection and streaming services.

“The Discovery Z3 not only delivers an exceptional audio experience, but also simplifies one of the biggest problems with Wi-Fi enabled spekers, the setup process. Our companion iOS and Android application make connecting the speaker to your Wi-Fi network as easy as connecting a Bluetooth speaker,” said Chris Walker, vice president of product development, ELAC. “This wireless speaker gives custom installers and consumers a great option for delivering outstanding sound performance in a wide variety of home-based applications.”

The Discovery Z3 features a pair of custom-designed bass drivers, including dual 4-inch Aramid fiber woofers and dual 4-inch passive radiators that are positioned on the front and back of the product’s cabinet, along with dual 1-inch soft-dome tweeters. Four discrete ampliers offer a total output of 140 watts, 50 watts for each bass driver and 20 watts for each tweeter. Users can tailor the sound (bass and treble) through an easy-to-use iOS or Android app, or web interface.

In addition to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, the Discovery Z3 offers one (1) 3.5mm input to attach a physical music source, if wireless access is not available.
